In September, we explored some of the most iconic and beautiful townhouse styles lining the side streets of New York City. This month, we’re shifting gears to examine what it might cost to make one of these architectural gems your own.
The townhouse market in Manhattan and Brooklyn has shown notable strength this year. In the third quarter, sales were up year-over-year, thanks to a wave of transactions in the previous quarter. Although contract activity dipped slightly from the second quarter, it remained strong compared to the same period last year. Inventory stayed stable, with just a 1.3% year-over-year decline, aligning with typical seasonal levels.
That said, inventory remains historically low, and it’s this sustained demand that has driven townhouse prices higher. In fact, the average price rose an impressive 20.1% compared to last year. While such double-digit increases can grab headlines, it’s important to view these numbers in context. The real estate market is dynamic, and any single quarter’s data only provides part of the story. Whether this trend continues or moderates in the coming months remains to be seen.
If you’ve been dreaming of owning a townhouse, now might be the time to explore your options. Below, we’ve highlighted a selection of exceptional townhouses currently on the market, offering a range of price points and locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Each has its own unique charm and potential. If any of these properties catches your eye—or if you’d like to explore other opportunities—it would be our pleasure to guide you through the process.
